Good decision-making is vital to personal, business and organisational success. But how often do you rationalize a decision after the fact? In business you’re expected to be rational - not emotional in making important decisions. But it turns out that emotions are essential to decision making.
Peter Webb shows how the emerging field of Neuroeconomics (the combination of behavioural economics with neuroscience) can help you to avoid the brain’s natural tendency to rationalize (tell rational lies) and how and when to use emotions to make better decisions.
What you will learn from his presentation:
• Understand the neuroscience behind how we decide.
• Experience typical “software flaws” of the rational brain and their implications for decision bias and manipulation.
• Practical applications of Neuroeconomics for getting people to do what you really want them to do in your industry.
• Recognise the comparative advantages of the rational brain and the emotional brain and when to use them to make the best decisions.
• How to apply these findings to your personal leadership style.
Peter Webb is the Principal and co-founder of Sydney-based consultancy ITC (Intentional Training Concepts) Pty Ltd. He is a Leadership Capability Psychologist with an applied research focus in the psychology of wisdom.
Since 2001 he has coached Managers, Executive Managers, Directors, and Partners over thousands of hours across a diverse range of commercial and government enterprises, and trained hundreds of consultants, coaches, and managers as coaches.
Peter holds a Masters Degree in Applied Science (Coaching Psychology) from the University of Sydney, an Honours Degree in Economics (Organisational Psychology) from the University of Queensland, and a Bachelor of Naturopathy from the Australian College of Natural Medicine.
